Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 26: Apple could launch a new Mac mini in the coming days, making it one of the final products released while Tim Cook is still the company’s CEO. According to official reports, the Mac mini may arrive ahead of Apple’s September iPhone event. The company is also expected to introduce new AirPods and other devices later this year/ The biggest uncertainty is the chip, with reports pointing to either the M5 or M6. Apple has not confirmed any of these upcoming products.
The Mac mini has gone nearly two years without a major update, an unusually long gap for the desktop. The current model skipped the M5 chip, leaving questions about which processor Apple will choose for the next version.
The timing also comes amid rising memory costs. Higher RAM prices could put pressure on Apple’s production costs, particularly for a computer where memory configuration can significantly affect the final price.
Notably, the Mac mini serves two different groups of users. Its entry level version is Apple’s most affordable Mac. Meanwhile, higher end configurations are capable enough for developers and professional users. A delayed refresh therefore affects both budget-conscious buyers and those looking for more powerful desktop hardware.
Reportedly, Apple is preparing several other products for the coming months. AirPods 5 could be announced at the September event alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and a foldable iPhone model.
An OLED iPad mini is also expected in October. This will potentially give Apple’s smallest tablet a major display upgrade. New iMac and MacBook Pro models could also arrive around the same period. Other products reportedly in development include a new Apple TV 4K, an updated HomePod mini and a Home Hubstyle device.
The launches would come shortly after John Ternus takes over as Apple’s CEO on September 1. Tetanus, who has spent years leading Apple’s hardware development, would therefore inherit a particularly busy product cycle. The dates for launches of other products, however, still remain unconfirmed.
