Industry Odisha News, Aug 24: Deemed to have revolutionized India’s tyre industry with radial technology and already a champion in global business as well as motorsport development, New Delhi-based JK Tyre & Industries Ltd is reportedly on its acquisition spree with its Rs 6,000 crore investment plan ready for over the next three years, even after its three successful acquisitions of struggling firms over the past three decades.
As per media reports, “The JK Tyre & Industries Ltd’s experience of acquisition of BK Birla Group tyre business under Cavendish Industries, Tornel Mexico’s two plants, and Mysore-based Karnataka state-owned Vikrant Tyres has prompted the company to become more confident of pursuing the penchant for acquisitions successfully and come off with flying colours in the businesses.”
Media reports added, “The JK Tyre & Industries Ltd also wants to bet on leadership in more premium segments, electric vehicle tyres in buses and seeks to augment its share of exports in revenue to 15%.”
Citing the views and contentions of experts, media reports have stated that, “Tyre companies in India are very much into their expansion plans because the passenger and commercial vehicles are witnessing a surge in growth. While the sales of passenger vehicles grew 8% to 4.6 million units in financial year 2025-26 (FY26), commercial vehicle sales grew 13% to 1.1 million units in the same period.”
Citing the views and contentions of experts, media reports have also stated that, “JK Tyre & Industries Ltd is more keen on acquisitions because acquisitions can better provide capacity and market access faster than its greenfield expansion. Besides, the Indian tyre industry is already around Rs 1 (one) lakh crore in size with exports of over Rs 25,000 crore.”
Citing analyses of financial and market experts, media reports have further stated that, “Around 53% of JK Tyre & Industries Ltd’s revenue in the fiscal year 2025-26 (FY26) came from the truck and bus segment, while 30% came from the passenger vehicle segment, and the rest of the percentage of revenue was generated from the two, three and other vehicle segments.
