Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 31: GenZ workers are using artificial intelligence more than older employees but are also more worried about its impact on jobs, a new Glassdoor study has found.
The study shows a clear difference in how generations view AI at work. Workers in their 40s, 50s and 60s are generally more positive about the technology. Nearly half of Gen X workers have spoken positively about how their companies use AI.
Gen Z workers, however, are less optimistic. Around one third of them do not view AI as positively as older workers. Still, both Gen Z and Gen X workers have raised concerns about the technology.
One reason could be the growing impact of AI on entry level jobs. A recent Stanford study found that employment among workers aged 22 to 25 in highly AI-exposed jobs was 19% lower than in less-exposed fields. The gap was 13% a year earlier.
AI is increasingly being used for tasks such as customer support, research and frosting marketing content. These changes could affect younger workers who are starting their careers.
At the same time, experienced workers may have an advantage. The Glassdoor report says that senior employees can use their industry knowledge to write better prompts and identify incorrect AI-generated information.
Meanwhile, job trends also point out a difference. Senior level job postings rose 14.7% in the year to May 2026. Meanwhile entry level postings fell 6.3%, according to Indeed.
Despite their concerns, Gen Z continues to use AI heavily. A Deloitte study found that more than three quarters of Gen Z workers have used standalone AI tools, compared with just over one-third of Gen X workers.
