Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 25: Since the Global Capability Center (GCC) is a strategic hub set up by multinational companies in regions outside their headquarters to centralize critical business functions such as IT, finance, analytics, research and development, and customer service, experts are optimistic that it could speed up India’s expansion plans.
International media reports, quoting experts, have claimed that, “GCCs are designed not just for cost efficiency, but also to drive innovation, digital transformation, and global business growth. They leverage global talent pools and advanced technologies to support the parent company’s operations worldwide.”
Reporting on the nature of GCC project experience, international media reports have stated that, “It involves working on projects that are often global in scope, technologically advanced, and strategically important. Employees gain exposure to ‘IT and software development projects involving coding, system integration, and application management’, ‘data analytics and AI projects that support decision-making and business insights’, ‘research and development (R&D) initiatives for product innovation and process improvement’, ‘business process optimization in areas like finance, HR, and customer service’, and ‘cross-functional and multicultural collaboration, often across multiple time zones’.”
International media reports have also stated that, “The typical roles in GCC projects include software engineers, data scientists, business analysts, R&D specialists, and customer experience managers. Working in GCCs helps professionals develop ‘technical expertise in emerging technologies like AI, machine learning and cloud computing’, ‘problem-solving and analytical skills through complex and high-impact projects’, ‘global collaboration and communication skills by working with diverse teams’, ‘project management and operational efficiency experience in large-scale and cross-border initiatives’, ‘access to cutting-edge technology as employees often work with tools and platforms not available in traditional corporate setups’, and above all, ‘its strategic impact directly influences business innovation, efficiency and scalability’.”
In context of GCC expansion in India, media reports have stated that, “Noida-based SacleGCC’s return calculator helps in IT management, human resources and legal compliances, while Bengaluru-based NeoIntelli’s cost calculator gives yearly cost comparisons and return on investment.”
