Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 22: Bharti Airtel is adding more digital muscle to its family postpaid plans. Rs 999 subscribers now unlock iCloud+, Apple TV and Apple Arcade.
Airtel is giving its family postpaid customers more reasons to stay premium. Subscribers on Rs 999 plans and above now get three new Apple benefits. iCloud+, Apple TV and Apple Arcade join the lineup. Cloud storage, entertainment and gaming now sit under one postpaid plan.
What The Apple Bundle Actually Offers
iCloud+ handles storage and syncing across Apple devices. Photos, files, passwords and contacts back up automatically. Setting up a new iPhone becomes simpler as a result. Apple TV opens access to Apple’s original series and films. Apple Arcade brings a games library free of ads. No in-app purchases interrupt the gaming experience either. Customers activate these perks through the Airtel app. Airtel stores also offer upgrade options for eligible users.
Inside The Rs 999 Family Plan
Three connections come standard with the Rs 999 plan. Unlimited data and Fastlane technology are included. So is spam protection and various entertainment subscriptions. Airtel frames the Apple addition as tying everything together. Connectivity, entertainment, storage and now gaming all in one package.
Why Airtel Is Doing This
Amit Tripathi, Director Market Ops at Bharti Airtel, pointed to customer simplicity as the driver. Family postpaid plans already bundle multiple digital experiences, he said. Apple’s services extend that positioning rather than replace it.
The timing isn’t accidental. Airtel has been chasing higher-value postpaid customers for a while. Richer bundles help distinguish premium tiers from basic ones. That’s increasingly how operators grow revenue without resorting to blanket tariff hikes.
The Prepaid Side Tells A Related Story
Airtel’s prepaid book has seen changes too. Plans at Rs 299, Rs 579, Rs 619 and Rs 649 disappeared recently. Former Rs 299 users now land on the Rs 349 pack by default. That’s roughly a 16 percent jump in price. There’s a trade-off, though Rs 349 comes with unlimited 5G data, which the older plan lacked. Analysts read this as selective rationalisation aimed at ARPU, not a sweeping price hike.
5G And Digital Services Keep Piling On
Priority Postpaid launched back in May, built on 5G slicing technology for a differentiated network feel. The Rs 999 family-of-three plan already carried Apple TV+ and Apple Music before this update. iCloud+ and Arcade simply extend what was already a growing digital-services push.
Financially, Airtel posted consolidated quarterly revenue of Rs 58,539 crore. That’s up 18.4 percent year-on-year and 5.7 percent sequentially, with both India and Africa operations contributing.
Where This Leaves Airtel
Bundling Apple’s ecosystem into postpaid plans is a clear signal. Airtel wants premium subscribers thinking beyond just network coverage. Connectivity, entertainment, cloud storage and gaming increasingly come as one package. Whether that changes how customers behave is unclear for now but it’s another lever pulled in Airtel’s broader premiumisation playbook.
