Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 26: The Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT) and Netflix have launched a scholarship programme which aims at helping students and working professionals build careers in India’s creative sector.
Under this initiative, 100 candidates will receive financial assistance covering up to 80% of programme fees. The scholarships will support learners enrolled in six specialised courses including animation, visual effects, gaming, comics and emerging media technologies.
The programmes include the following:
- Two one-year diploma courses:

- Interactive Comics and Sequential Arts
- Visual Effects Mastery

- Four six-month certificate programmes:

- Visual Art Department Content Creation
- Media Tech Workflow
- Art of Character animation
- E-Sports and Gaming Management

Notably, the opportunity is open to eligible students and working professionals from across India, with the aim of making industry-oriented creative education more accessible.
The scholarship programme is part of the broader Netflix India Storytelling Initiative, It focuses on strengthening India’s talent pipeline across the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) ecosystem.
The initiative comes after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos in August. During the interaction, Modi highlighted India’s long storytelling tradition and its large pool of creative talent.
Chanchal Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Chairman of the IICT Board, said that India’s creative economy is entering an important phase of growth. He described IICT as a link between India’s creative talent and the changing requirements of the global AVGC-XR industry.
As per Kumar, partnerships with industry players can help bring practical knowledge into classrooms and prepare young talent for emerging opportunities in the global creative workforce.
