Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 05: Odisha has strengthened its agriculture sector ahead of the 2026 Rabi season. The State Government extended major financial assistance through the CM-KISAN Funding Program.
On Shri Krishna Janmashtami, ahead of Nuakhai, Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi acted swiftly. He transferred over ₹833 crore to more than 41 lakh farmer families. The funds moved via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in a Bhubaneswar event.
This marks the fifth installment under the CM-KISAN scheme. It will help farmers procure essential inputs for the Rabi season.
The government also ensures farmer welfare through allied schemes. These include fair paddy prices under Samrudha Krushak Yojana. The Krushi Bidyanidhi scheme offers free technical education to farmers’ children.
Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, praised the Chief Minister’s vision. He noted that 41 lakh farmers and 14,000 landless workers will benefit.
Shri Jadhav called the DBT transfer transparent and seamless. He said it enables timely agricultural preparation and production planning.
He thanked Deputy CM Shri K V Singh Deo and Minister Shri Suresh Pujari. Their support strengthened the state’s agriculture initiatives, he said.
Highlighting Krushi Bidyanidhi’s progress, Jadhav shared key figures. Over 38,910 students received more than ₹291 crore in aid.
This marks historic support for farmers’ children pursuing higher education. Jadhav, from a farming background himself, urged beneficiaries to use funds wisely. He called for accelerating agricultural growth and productivity across Odisha.
