Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 05: In latest news, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced that the state government will fill 45,000 vacant teaching posts in schools over the next three years.
Majhi made the announcement at a Teachers’ Day programme at Secondary Board High School in Cuttack on Saturday. He spoke about the importance of teachers, education reforms, and the responsibilities of students.
During his interaction with students, CM Majhi urged them to reduce their time on social media and focus on their education and careers. He said students should build strong academic skills and contribute to the development of the country.
The Chief Minister also highlighted several education initiatives undertaken by the government. He said Odisha was the first state to introduce the “KG to PG” free education scheme.
According to Majhi, the government is constructing 2,200 Godavarish Mishra Adarsha Pratamila Vidyalayas at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. The state has also opened 45,000 nursery schools for pre-school children.
He further said the government plans to provide mid day meals and textbooks to students in Classes 9 and 10. The Shahid Madho Singh Hath Kharcha Yojana is another initiative aimed at supporting tribal students and reducing school dropout rates.
Notably, the programme also marked the birth anniversary of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, observed as Teachers’ Day. He also felicitated teachers during the event, where the government’s recruitment and education plans were outlined.
