Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 04: Odisha’s Chief Secretary chaired the third State Level Committee meeting on Standardization on Monday. The meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhawan here.
The committee focused on strengthening the state’s quality ecosystem. It called for wider implementation of Indian Standards across departments.
Members emphasised quality checks in public procurement processes. Government departments were urged to prioritise ISI-marked products wherever applicable.
Officials were advised to follow relevant Indian Standards strictly. This applies to all future procurement decisions and processes.
The committee also stressed capacity building for government employees. Training on standardization norms was identified as a priority.
Wider promotion of the BIS CARE App was also discussed. The app aims to strengthen consumer awareness and protection.
The meeting called for strengthening Standards Clubs in schools. These clubs promote quality awareness among students early on.
Implementation of Indian Standards for public services was also reviewed. This ensures safer and more reliable services for citizens.
Plans for a new BIS Office-cum-Laboratory Complex were discussed. The facility will strengthen Odisha’s product testing infrastructure significantly.
