Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 28: The Odisha Government invited aluminium downstream companies to establish manufacturing operations at the Angul Aluminium Park during a roadshow held in Kolkata on Monday.
Organised by National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) in association with ASSOCHAM, the event showcased investment opportunities at the park and featured participation from Odisha’s investment promotion and industrial infrastructure agencies, IPICOL and IDCO.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, described Odisha as a powerhouse of India’s aluminium industry.
He noted that the national Aluminium Vision envisages a six fold increase in aluminium production by 2047.
Highlighting Odisha’s contribution of approximately 60–70 per cent of India’s aluminium production and more than 70 per cent of its bauxite production, Reddy encouraged industries in West Bengal to leverage the State’s strong industrial base and described Odisha as a natural partner for aluminium downstream manufacturing.
Keshav Chandra, Union Mines Secretary, said that a major expansion of NALCO’s operations in Odisha was under consideration. The proposed expansion would enhance material availability and provide a stronger foundation for further downstream investment in the State, he said.
The roadshow positioned the Angul Aluminium Park—a joint venture between IDCO and NALCO—as a dedicated destination for aluminium ancillary and downstream industries. Its proximity to NALCO’s smelter offers a significant advantage in sourcing primary metal.
Developed industrial infrastructure, common facilities and a dedicated molten-metal transportation corridor are designed to enable efficient manufacturing and greater value addition.
Investment opportunities span aluminium extrusions, rolled products, packaging and battery foils, conductors, cables, castings, automotive components and recycling. The initiative seeks to translate Odisha’s strength in primary aluminium into higher-value products while creating opportunities for MSMEs, skilled employment and stronger supplier networks.
Odisha’s investment proposition combines access to leading metal producers with industrial land, reliable power and water infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and strong connectivity through the ports of Paradip, Dhamra and Gopalpur.
Eligible projects may access incentives under the State’s industrial policy. IPICOL reiterated its commitment to supporting investors across land identification, statutory approvals, incentives and project implementation.
The programme featured presentations on the park, experience-sharing by existing industries and roundtable discussions focused on investor requirements.
The State Government invited manufacturers to evaluate the Angul Aluminium Park as a destination for their next phase of growth and to build partnerships that expand downstream production, deepen value addition and strengthen India’s aluminium value chain.
