Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 15: Odisha is likely to witness thunderstorms, lightning and rainfall over the next four days. The Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) has issued a yellow warning for 18 districts.
Several parts of northern, eastern and southern Odisha are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall on Thursday. The changing weather conditions also indicate favorable conditions for the onset of the northeast monsoon following the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon.
Yellow warning has been issued to the following districts: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Rayagda, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, and Nayagarh.
Residents in these districts have been advised to remain alert as thunderstorms and lightning could affect normal activities. People should avoid open areas during lightning activity to reduce the risk of strikes.
The weather office has also forecast rain and strong winds along the southern Odisha coast over the next three days. Wind speeds in affected areas may reach 30-40 kmph, potentially making conditions unsettled along the coast.
Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to affect different parts of the state during the coming days. Residents have been advised to follow official weather updates and take precautions during periods of lightning and gusty winds.
