Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 31: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will launch the state’s mega cooperative membership campaign, “Sambandha,” tomorrow, on September 1. The campaign aims to bring at least one member from every rural household into the cooperative network.
CM Majhi will also launch a mobile application for digital registration. The app is expected to make the process transparent and easier for rural residents.
For the first time, Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS) and Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies (LAMPS) will distribute dividends to farmer members. In the first phase, over 3 lakh members of 180 PACS and LAMPS will receive around Rs 14 crore in dividends. The state government will receive Rs 4.22 crore as a stakeholder and reinvest the amount in the cooperative sector.
Majhi will also virtually inaugurate 21 milk collection centres. With this, the total number run through PACS and LAMPS to 97. Another 50 agro service centres will provide modern farm machinery to small and marginal farmers at affordable rental prices.
The programme will also see the launch of 46 consumer centers and 200 Jan Seva Kendras.
In order to improve digital operations, 200 PACS will be brought under the NAtional PACS Computerisation Software, with the remaining societies expected to be onboarded by the end of the financial year.
Moreover, the government also plans to establish 100 modern model mandis across Odisha. The foundation stones for 4 of 38 cabinet approved mandis will be laid virtually. Two of these will be in Cuttack, and one each in Khordha and Puri.
