Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 30: Maruti Suzuki India has crossed 50,000 units in cumulative electric vehicle exports, less than 15 months after beginning global shipments of its e-Vitara in August 2025. The company accounted for nearly 93% of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports between April and September 2026.
Manufactured at the company’s Hansalpur facility in Gaujarat, the e Vitara is exported to nearly 50 countries. Europe remains its largest export market, with destinations including the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland.
Managing Director and CEO Hisashi Takeuchi said the milestone reflects India’s manufacturing capabilities and growing competitiveness in international markets.
Maruti Suzuki said it was India’s largest electric vehicle exporter in FY2025-26. It retained the position during the first half of FY2026-27. The e Vitara is intended for sale in more than 100 countries.
The company’s wider export network includes 16 models shipped to nearly 120 countries. IT has remained India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for five consecutive years and accounted for more than 50 percent of the country’s passenger vehicle exports between April and September 2026.
The Hansalpur plant plays a central role in this strategy. It is the exclusive manufacturing base for Suzukli’s first global battery electric vehicle and recently expanded its annual production capacity to one million units, making it the first Suzuki facility worldwide to reach that capacity at a single location.
Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative investment in the facility stands at Rs 25,288.7 crore.
