Industry Odisha Bureau, July 6: SBI (State Bank of India) is planning to recruit 1500 probationary officers this year in order to drive business growth. An official notification for the SBI recruitment drive has been released. The last date for the submission of applications is July 8, 2026, with the bank expecting to complete the entire process by the end of this year.

- Applicant should be a graduate in any discipline
- Applicant should be of 21 years of age as of April 1, 2026
Apart from regular recruitment, SBI also hires professionals through lateral recruitment. These include professionals and domain experts who are appointed as Specialist Officers. Areas of work include IT, data centres, risk management, legal, treasury, compliance and data analytics. Notably, SBI also recruited 67 sportspersons during the Financial year 2025-26. This came as part of its efforts to remote Indian sports and build a disciplined, high performing workforce.
The latest annual report of SBI mentions that the bank hired a total of 25,633 employees last financial year. This comprised 4,640 officers, 19,340 associates and 1,653 contractual staff. The report also mentioned the bank’s low employee attrition rate of 0.97%. The bank attributed this to strong employee commitment, workplace stability and its people centric policies.
It is noteworthy to mention that SBI spent about Rs 75.87 crore on recruitment during the last financial year. The average hiring cost per vacancy fell to Rs 29,597 from Rs 40,441 in FY25. This reflected the bank’s improved recruitment efficiency.
