Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 09: Apple is holding its September product event later today. The event is called Surprise and Shine this year. Apple could unveil its first foldable iPhone at Apple Park. The iPhone 18 Pro series is also widely expected. Multiple new devices are expected across Apple’s lineup.
The showcase takes place at Apple Park in Cupertino. It begins at 10 am Pacific Time today. Indian viewers can watch starting at 10:30 pm IST. The event streams live on Apple’s YouTube channel. Apple TV will also carry the livestream. Apple has not listed additional official streaming platforms.
John Ternus is Apple’s newly appointed chief executive. This marks his first major product presentation as CEO. It is also Apple’s first in-person September event since 2019. Ternus previously led Apple’s hardware engineering division.
Apple is expected to unveil its first book-style foldable. Reports suggest it could be named iPhone Ultra or Duo. Earlier rumours mentioning iPhone Fold have since been refuted. Apple has not confirmed any name publicly yet.
The foldable is reportedly powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chipset. It may include two 48-megapixel cameras on its back. These specifications remain unconfirmed ahead of today’s event.
Samsung is said to supply its internal foldable display. That could help minimize the crease when unfolded. Reports point to a 4:3 aspect ratio design. That resembles the passport-like Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. Black and white colour options have also been reported. None of these details have been officially confirmed yet.
Apple is also expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro Max should arrive alongside it. Both phones may share the same A20 Pro chipset. Neither phone’s final specifications have been confirmed by Apple.
They will reportedly keep last year’s rectangular camera module. A new variable-aperture camera is the most notable upgrade. This remains a reported feature, not a confirmed one.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 are also expected. Both wearables reportedly get meaningful performance improvements this year. Their overall design could remain largely unchanged. New health-tracking features have also been reported. None of these features have been officially verified yet.
AirPods 5 rounds out Apple’s expected new hardware lineup. Its exact specifications have not been officially confirmed.
Reports also point to a new HomePod Touch device. It could feature a seven-inch touchscreen display. Apple may also refresh the HomePod Mini and Apple TV 4K. These details also remain unconfirmed ahead of the event.
The foldable iPhone remains the event’s biggest open question. Apple must show the format offers real user benefits. Today’s event should clarify how far Apple’s design goes. Confirmed details remain limited until Apple takes the stage.
