Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 13: India’s semiconductor sector has raised $1.4 billion in equity funding. Nearly half arrived since 2025, led by Bengaluru. SEMICON India 2026 begins September 17 in New Delhi.
Funding Accelerates Sharply
India’s semiconductor ecosystem has attracted $1.4 billion in all-time equity funding. This spans 281 funded companies, per Tracxn data. Nearly $701 million arrived since 2025 alone. That is roughly half the cumulative total. The findings come days before SEMICON India 2026. The event runs September 17–19 at Yashobhoomi. Funding rose from $49 million in 2021. It reached $473 million during 2025. Another $228 million came during 2026 year-to-date. The five-year funding CAGR exceeded 36 per cent.
Tessolve Leads Company Funding
Tessolve Semiconductor leads cumulative company funding at $213 million. ILJIN Electronics follows with $198 million. VVDN has raised $129 million. These figures reflect reported equity funding, not valuations.
EMS Draws Recent Capital
Electronic Manufacturing Services attracted $313 million since 2025. This makes it the leading funded business model. Embedded Hardware ranked second, raising $51.9 million. That entire amount arrived within the trailing 12 months. Power Management Integrated Circuits also ranked among top models. Fabless Semiconductor Manufacturers featured prominently too.
Bengaluru Dominates the Geography
India counts 3,557 companies across its semiconductor ecosystem. Of these, 142 have raised equity funding. Bengaluru hosts 626 companies, about 18 per cent of the total. Yet it accounts for 40.1 per cent of cumulative funding. Capital is clearly more concentrated than company numbers suggest. Noida follows with a 16.4 per cent funding share. Gurugram holds 10.7 per cent, Kochi 8.8 per cent. Hyderabad rounds out the list at 6.2 per cent.
Acquisitions Remain the Main Exit Route
Acquisitions remain the sector’s primary exit route. The dataset records 62 acquisitions against 42 IPOs. Companies reached acquisition in 11.8 years on average. Public listings took 16.5 years from first funding. eInfochips recorded the largest exit at $282 million. Narayan Powertech followed at $262 million. SmartPlay Technologies posted a $180 million exit. Tempsens Instruments listed in August 2026. Its market capitalisation stood at $263 million. Merritronix went public in June 2026.
SEMICON India 2026 Approaches
SEMICON India 2026 opens September 17 in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event. This marks the conference’s fifth edition. It brings together global semiconductor industry leaders. Government officials and state representatives are also expected.
Ecosystem Enters a New Phase
The funding data points to accelerating capital formation. Bengaluru’s concentration highlights uneven geographic distribution of investment. Acquisitions continue to outpace public listings as exits. India’s semiconductor ecosystem now enters a capital-intensive phase, with SEMICON India 2026 offering fresh context for that momentum.
