Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 30: Apple has officially launched Apple Pay in India. This allows eligible iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users to make contactless payments at stores, in apps or on websites. It is noteworthy mentioning that Mac support is expected to be added soon.
At launch, Apple Pay supports eligible Visa and Mastercard credit cards issued by Axis Bank. Users will be able to make payments at participating merchants across India and also at NFC-enabled terminals globally.
Apple said that privacy is built into Apple Pay. When a card is added, its actual card number is not stored on the device or on Apple’s servers. It is not shared with the merchants either. Instead, Apple Pay creates a Unique Device Account Number, which is encrypted and stored in the device’s Secure Element.
How to set up Apple Pay

Once the card is added, users can pay in stores by double clicking the iPhone’s side button or Home button. Next they will have to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode, and hold the device near a contactless payment terminal. Apple Watch users can similarly double-click the side button and hold the watch near a contactless payment terminal.
