Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 14: In latest news, Apple has launched HomeView, its first smart home display in India, priced at Rs 39,900. The device combines home controls, entertainment, video calling and an AI-powered Siri assistant in a single 7-inch display.
Pre-orders opened on October 13, with sales scheduled to begin on November 13. The device comes in silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey. A separate wall-mounted option for installation in spaces such as hallways and entryways is also available.
HomeView uses facial recognition to identify up to six household members. It also displays personalised apps, widgets, messages, reminders and calendar entries. Apple says personal information appears only when the recognised user is nearby with a compatible, recently unlocked iPhone or iPad.
The upgraded Siri assistant supports voice-based requests, music discovery and information searches. When paired with a compatible device supporting Apple intelligence, it can use personal context from apps such as Messages and Calendar to provide relevant responses.
Notably, the display also supports FaceTime calls, messaging, Apple Music, podcasts and compatible media apps. Its speaker system features two full-range drivers, a down firing woofer and passive radiators, with computational audio adjusting sound output in real time.
For everyday use, HomeView can display recipes, manage cooking timers and transfer music from an iPhone through Handoff. It also controls compatible smart home accessories, including lights, thermostats, locks and blinds, and can display live feeds from up to nine cameras simultaneously.
With compatible cameras and an iCloud+ subscription, users can access additional security alerts. The device can also detect smoke or carbon monoxide alarm sounds and send notifications to connected Apple devices.
