Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 6: Samsung’s latest foldable smartphones, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Flip8, are off to a strong start. The company has confirmed that Fold8, Fold8 Ultra, and Flip8 have exceeded pre-order expectations across several key markets. This comes ahead of their official sale on August 7.
Samsung said the new Galaxy Z8 series has recorded more than 30% higher global pre-orders compared to the previous generation. This makes it the company’s strongest foldable launch till date. In Europe, pre-orders for the three devices have surpassed last year’s Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 by 20%. Notably, this happened within the first 11 days after their unveiling on July 22. The Galaxy Z8 Fold alone accounted for nearly 40% of all pre-orders in the region.
The same situation has also been reflected in India. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 together received around 2.71 lakh pre-orders within just 72 hours of launch. Samsung said the previous generation had taken nearly 15 days to reach the same milestone.
In South Korea, the Fold8 duo and Flip8 attracted 1.44 million pre-orders within a week. With this, they surpassed the previous record of 1.38 million pre-orders set by the Galaxy Note10 series.
Coming to the US, Samsung said the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra are running around 30 percent ahead of the previous record holding Fold generation. The Galaxy Z Fold8 alone represents nearly half of all pre-orders across carriers and retail channels. The company also noted that more than three times as many Galaxy Z Flip users upgraded to a Fold model compared with the previous generation. Meanwhile, nearly one in four customers also pre-ordered a new Galaxy Watch.
Also, globally, Graphite has emerged as the most popular colour for the Fold models, while Pink led sales for the Galaxy Z Flip8.
