Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 25: Triumph Motorcycles is expected to launch the new Bonneville 400 in India during the upcoming festive season. This brings the brand’s classic Bonneville styling to its entry-level 400cc platform. The motorcycle has been spotted several times in India and international markets, indicating that its launch could be announced soon.
The upcoming Bonneville 400 is expected to share its basic chassis built with the Triumph Speed 400. However, it will have several changes to suit its classic design. The motorcycle is likely to feature a flatter and longer subframe. This will be along with a longer bench style seat typical of Bonneville models.
The bike is also expected to have slightly larger proportions than the Speed 400. Design changes could include a larger fuel tank, longer front and rear fenders, different engine covers, chrome accents, a fender mounted taillamp and a peashooter style single sided exhaust. A main stand could also be offered as standard equipment.
For the suspension setup, the Bonneville 400 is expected to use telescopic front forks with fork gaiters and twin read shock absorbers with preload adjustment. Unlike the Speed 400, which uses a monoshock, the new motorcycle will follow a more traditional setup. It is also expected to get wire-spoke wheels, with an alloy wheel version potentially offered, along with disc brakes at both ends, dual channel ABS and traction control.
Power is expected to come from Triumph’s 349cc single-cylinder engine used across its latest 400cc models. On the Speed 400, the engine produces 36.49 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque. The Bonneville 400 could receive a different state of tune focused more on low-end performance and smoother power delivery.
Triumph is expected to announce the launch date for Bonneville 400 soon.
