Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 24: Mercedes-Benz India has launched the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad at a starting price of Rs 3.80 crore (ex-showroom). Available in limited numbers, the new variant adds several features designed to improve the SUV’s performance on challenging terrain.
The Mercedes-AMG G 63 Offroad Pro gets AMG Active Ride Control suspension and two dedicated off-road functions. These being the AMG Traction Pro and AMG Active Balance Control. It also comes with a roof luggage rack. The rack features a removable rear ladder and 20-inch AMG alloy wheels finished in matte black.
Powering the SUV is the familiar handcrafted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, producing 585 hp and 850 Nm of torque. A 48-volt mid-hybrid system can provide an additional 15 kW of support at lower engine speeds, with power sent to all four wheels.
AMG Active Balance Control allows the driver to adjust suspension roll stiffness across three stages when using an off-road drive programme. Meanwhile, AMG Traction Pro operates in the Rock and Sand modes and manages braking torque at individual wheels to improve traction. It offers seven settings for the desired degree of locking.
The roof rack features aluminium panels and is designed to carry larger luggage or expedition equipment. The 20-inch wheels are paired with 275/50 R20 tyres.
On the inside, the SUV gets Nappa leather upholstery, adjustable ambient lighting and the MBUX NTG7 infotainment system. Two 12.3-inch displays provide driving and multimedia information. Meanwhile, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, augmented reality navigation and an 18-speaker Burmester sound system are also available.
The off-road display provides information including vehicle position, altitude, steering angle, tyre pressure and differential lock status. Safety features include Active Brake assist, Lane keeping Assist and a 360-degree camera as well.
