Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 04: Kia has launched the Sorento SUV in India at Rs 27.99 lakh. The starting price applies ex-showroom across the base variant. Buyers get hybrid and diesel powertrain choices at launch. Notably, the hybrid comes paired with AWD availability. This positions the Sorento above Kia’s existing Seltos SUV.
The Sorento now serves as Kia’s flagship ICE SUV in India. It enters a competitive premium segment against established rivals. Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Volkswagen Tayron feature here. The hybrid AWD combination stands out as a segment proposition. Diesel remains available for buyers preferring traditional powertrain options.
Dimensions place the Sorento among the largest in its class. It measures 4,815mm in length and 1,900mm in width. Height stands at 1,785mm with a 2,815mm wheelbase. Kia claims this wheelbase is the longest in its segment. Design elements include an upright stance and vertical headlamps. A tiger-nose grille anchors the front-end styling further.
Boxy proportions pair with 18-inch alloy wheels throughout. Vertically oriented tail lamps mirror the front-end treatment closely. Buyers can choose from eight distinct paint scheme options. An all-black exterior variant is also being offered.
Inside, the cabin leans heavily on premium technology features. Depending on variant, buyers get a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. This pairs with either a smaller cluster or matching digital display. Higher variants unlock Kia’s CCNC navigation and Kia Connect 2.0. Over-the-air updates, a digital key and head-up display feature too. A generative-AI assistant rounds out the top-end technology offering.
Comfort features include ventilated first and second-row seats. Relaxation seats and a 10-way electric driver’s seat are included. The front passenger gets four-way power seat adjustment as standard. A panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and powered tailgate also feature. A 12-speaker Bose audio system completes the premium audio setup.
Seating flexibility is a core part of the Sorento’s appeal. The SUV offers a seven-seat, three-row layout by default. Kia is also offering an optional six-seat configuration instead. Captain seats in the second row allow reclining and sliding. Remote second-row folding adds further practicality for families. ISOFIX mounts extend across both second and third rows.
