Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 29: In recent developments, Meta is testing a new personal AI agent called ‘Project Hatch’ that can perform online tasks for users instead of simply answering questions. The tool is currently being tested by Meta employees and could eventually become a consumer product.
According to reports from reliable sources, Hatch is designed to help with areas such as shopping, travel, health, relationships, and personal finances. It can book restaurants, make purchases, fill out forms, research information and even find services such as dog sitters.
Unlike a regular chatbot, Hatch has its own computer and can interact directly with websites and online services. It can also connect with platforms such as email, calendars, Spotify, Instagram and OpenTable.
Meta is building the AI agent with a strong focus on personalisation. Users can give their AI agent a name, choose how it communicates and decide what information it should prioritise. Hatch can remember details about users and continue working in the background, even when the app is closed. Users can also approve sensitive actions before they are completed.
The system has already been tested for tasks such as finding a dog sitter, buying gifts and improving sleep routines.
The project is part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s broader push into personal AI. Meta has previously said it wants to develop “personal superintelligence for everyone.” Hatch could eventually be offered as a paid service, although the launch date and price is yet to be announced.
