Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 05: Veteran Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar will captain India in the upcoming Hong Kong Sixes, scheduled to be held from October 30 to November 1. The squad features several players with international and Indian Premier League experience.
The seven-member Indian team includes Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Krunal Pandyam Shashank Singh, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, and T. Nataranjan. Except for Shashank Singh, all members of the squad have represented India at the International level.
The team combines international experience with attacking batting, all round ability and specialist bowling. The six-a-side format leaves little time for players to settle, making quick scoring and adaptability key to success.
Bhuvneshwar brings extensive international and IPL experience, particularly with the new ball. Krunal Pandya adds all-round skills and Nitish Rana is expected to provide aggressive batting at the top of the order.
Shashank Singh and Rahul Tewatia strengthen the team’s finishing options, while Rahul Tripathi adds an attacking approach with the bat. Left arm pacer T. Nataranjan provides another specialist bowling option.
India will return to the Hong Kong Sixes after featuring in the 2025 edition. The team began its campaign last year with a two-run DLS win over Pakistan but failed to progress further after losing its next matches.
Pakistan will be entering the 2026 tournament as defending champions after defeating Kuwait in the 2025 final to secure a record sixth Hong Kong sixes title.
The 2026 edition will feature eight major cricketing nations and four Associate Members. Matches will be played at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground over three days.
