Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 16: Star Indian cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues has officially partnered with Switzerland Tourism as its newest Friendship Ambassador for India. The high profile collaboration was formally announced in Bengaluru. This was in the presence of Switzerland Tourism Chief Executive Officer Martin Nydegger.
Under this partnership, the energetic middle-order batter will highlight the European nation’s scenic landscapes, cultural heritage, and outdoor adventures and seasonal attractions across all four seasons to encourage Indian tourists to discover offbeat destinations.
This appointment comes during a period of active physical rehabilitation for Rodrigues. This as she continues her recovery from a severe right hamstring injury. The setback occurred on August 3 while she was representing the Southern Brave in The Hundred. The injury forced an abrupt end to a strong tournament run when she had already registered 143 runs across six innings at a strike rate of 131.19.
The high-grade tear sidelined Jemimah from major international tournaments, including the Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games. Notably, her prolonged recovery timeline will keep her out of India’s upcoming white-ball series against Zimbabwe. This has temporarily opening middle order slots for emerging players such as Niki Prasad, Jintimani Kalita, Anushka Sharma, and Gunalan Kamalini.
Despite her extended absence from competitive cricket, Rodrigues remains focused on regaining match fitness. She regularly keeps sharing updates of her net sessions and gym conditioning routines on social media.
