Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 11: Flying between Bhubaneswar and Delhi has become a costly affair for Odisha’s travellers. Fares on the route remain steep across all twelve months. Frequent flyers say the trend shows no sign of easing.
The sector stands out when compared with domestic routes of similar length. Other routes with comparable distance and flight time offer far cheaper tickets. Bhubaneswar Delhi prices, however, stay elevated in both peak and lean seasons.
Advance booking brings little relief, according to regular passengers. Many say early tickets still cost far more than they should. The burden grows heavier during Durga Puja, Diwali and summer vacations. At such times, fares climb beyond the reach of ordinary families.
Travellers acknowledge that airlines follow dynamic pricing and their own business models. Yet they argue the steady fare gap on this route demands official scrutiny.
Passengers have appealed to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the DGCA. They want regulators to examine the pricing gap and ensure fair fares.
The route serves as a vital link between Odisha and the national capital. Students, patients, professionals and traders depend heavily on these flights. For them, affordable air connectivity is a necessity, not a luxury.
