A foldable iPhone is set to lead the announcements. iPhone 18 Pro models and new Apple Watches will join it. Reports suggest this pipeline stretches well past 2027.
Apple has branded the September event “Surprise and Shine.” It falls on September 9, 2026, this year. Incoming CEO John Ternus will present the new lineup. He assumed the top role just days earlier. His team reportedly built much of this roadmap. Apple has not commented publicly on the reports.
Central to the event is Apple’s first foldable phone. Insiders reportedly call it the “iPhone Ultra” internally. It’s expected to pair a large inner screen with a compact outer display. Folded, the device would resemble a passport in size. An A20 Pro chip is rumored to power it. Apple’s own C2 modem may also feature. The hinge design is reportedly more refined than rivals. Pricing could exceed $2,000 at launch.
The iPhone 18 Pro line will likely look familiar overall. New shades of light-blue and dark-red may appear. Under the hood, A20 Pro chips are expected. Better batteries and vapor chambers should improve thermal performance. A mechanical aperture might enhance the camera system further.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 are also anticipated. Expect new colors alongside a ceramic Series 12 option. AI-enhanced Siri features may debut on these watches. A refreshed AirPods 5 lineup should round out the day.
Beyond phones and wearables, Apple TV and HomePod mini may get speed boosts. Faster chips could bring Siri AI to both devices. The iPad mini might finally gain an OLED display. Meanwhile, a touchscreen OLED MacBook Pro remains in active development.
Looking toward 2027, Apple’s roadmap grows even more ambitious. An updated MacBook Air with newer silicon is expected. Entry-level iPads may gain Apple Intelligence support at last. The iPad Air is rumored to shift toward OLED technology. Apple could also split iPhone releases across two seasons. A spring launch might pair the iPhone 18 with an “e” model.
Camera-equipped AirPods, delayed from this year, may arrive in 2027. These could power visual-intelligence features like contextual reminders. Apple is also reportedly building smart glasses without any display. That product would directly challenge Meta’s glasses lineup.
Further ahead, a 20th-anniversary iPhone redesign is in the works. Curved glass and slimmer bezels are reportedly planned. Testing has already begun on a second foldable iPhone.
Apple’s longest-term bets stretch into 2028 and 2029. These reportedly include a robotic smart-home display concept. A lighter Vision Pro headset remains under internal discussion. An AI-focused pendant device is also said to be in testing. A previously shelved foldable iPad could still return someday.
True augmented-reality glasses remain Apple’s ultimate wearable goal. Executives reportedly see this arriving near the decade’s close. Much of this roadmap could still shift or change entirely.
