Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 21: The Odisha government is planning affordable housing projects for eight informal settlements in Bhubaneswar under the SAHAJOG Plus programme in order to improve living conditions for the urban poor.
At the 13th monthly meeting of ANKUR (Atal Network for Knowledge, Urbanization, and Reform), the executing agency was asked to submit detailed project reports (DPRs) for housing projects covering the eight settlements across three locations.
The proposals were reviewed during a meeting chaired by Arindam Dakua, director of municipal administration. Officials and other stakeholders discussed progress on urban development initiatives being implemented by the state’s Housing and Urban Development Department.
The affordable housing component of SAHAJOG Plus aims to tackle persistent problems faced by residents of informal settlements, particularly inadequate housing infrastructure and limited access to essential urban services.
