Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 18: New Delhi will host the 7th AgriVoltaics World Conference from October 21 to 23. The three day global meet will be held at the Bharat Mandapam complex. Agrivoltaics combines solar power generation and farming on the same piece of land.
Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Secretary Santosh Sarangi called it a premier international platform. The conference will run under the theme “Powering the Global South.” It will tackle food security, clean energy access and rural livelihoods together.
Organisers will focus on practical, scalable solutions for emerging and developing economies. The agenda also aligns with India’s expanding clean energy schemes like PM-KUSUM.
Policy experts, scientists, farm bodies and financiers will attend the event. Solar developers and equipment manufacturers will also join the deliberations. Participants will share fresh research and review technical system designs. They will also assess crop yields under solar panels across regions. Commercial investment models for agrivoltaic projects will be evaluated too.
Technical and agricultural integration will dominate key sessions. Experts will discuss system architecture and the selection of shade tolerant crops. Water harvesting and microclimate management under panels will also be covered.
Delegates will examine policy and financing frameworks for the sector. Talks will cover new funding mechanisms, tariff structures and land use rules. These measures aim to draw private and community investment into agrivoltaics.
Social inclusion and community-led rural development will receive special attention. Sessions will stress capacity building and skill training for local communities. Farmer Producer Organisations, cooperatives and self-help groups will play key roles. The goal is to ensure benefits reach smallholder farmers directly.
The Ministry and its global partners hope to boost cooperation across the Global South. Nations from Asia, Africa and Latin America are expected to collaborate closely. The meet seeks to speed up research and commercial partnerships in the field. Organisers aim to position agrivoltaics as a pillar of climate action. It is also seen as a driver of rural economic growth worldwide.
