Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 13: Odisha has won national recognition for its efforts to make wind energy investment safer. The state received the Wind India 2026 award for Leadership in Wind Energy De-risking. The honour was conferred at the Windergy India 2026 conference held in Chennai.
Union New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi presented the award on October 8. GRIDCO Managing Director Dr. Satyapriya Rath received it on behalf of the state.
Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo formally received the award. It was handed over by Additional Chief Secretary (Energy) Vishal Kumar Dev. OPTCL Chairman and MD Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma and Dr. Rath attended the ceremony.
Congratulating officials, Singh Deo said the award reflects the government’s strong resolve. He said the Odisha Renewable Energy Policy has guided this progress. The state’s roadmap aims to speed up the clean energy transition, he added. It also seeks to draw sustainable investment from across the globe.
Officials credited Vishal Kumar Dev’s leadership for much of the state’s recent progress. His push for policy reforms and simpler institutional processes has been key. These efforts have helped position Odisha as a preferred green energy investment destination. They have also helped the state move faster from planning to execution.
Odisha also hosted a special session titled “Odisha: India’s Next Wind Destination.” The session presented the state’s wind power potential to domestic and global investors. The effort aligns with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and MNRE. Odisha is pursuing projects across solar, wind and other renewable sectors.
The recognition strengthens Odisha’s bid to become a leading clean energy hub.
