Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 09: Amazon has launched its first Android tablet lineup, introducing three models. These being the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, Alexa Tablet 11 and Alexa Tablet. The devices come with built in Alexa Plus and native Google Play Store support. The new range marks a shift from the company’s earlier Fire tablets, which ran on its more restricted Fire OS.
The tablets retain Amazon’s Kindle reading experience. The feature disables notifications, activates battery optimisation and enables adaptive display settings and a blue light filter. Amazon Devices head Panos Panay describes it as a “distraction-free reading sanctuary.”
The flagship Alexa Tablet 12 Pro features a 12-inch display with 280 PPI pixel density, a 120Hz refresh rate and a 3:2 aspect ratio. It runs on a 4nm octa-core processor, offers up to 16GB of RAM and includes quad Dolby Atmos speakers, Wi-Fi 6E and up to 16 hours of video playback. A Pro Pen and magnetic Pro Keyboard are available separately.
The Alexa tablet 11 comes with an 11-inch 2.5K display, a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM and up to 15 hours of video playback. The compact Alexa Tablet 8 features an 8.7 inch display. It weighs about 329 grams and supports Wi-Fi 6, with up to 14 hours of video playback.
Alexa Plus is available across all three models, offering voice assistance, smart home controls and screen-aware help when enabled.
Amazon has also unveiled the updated Kids Tablets in 8.7-inch and 11-inch sizes. These include protective cases and a one-year Amazon Kids Plus subscription. New features include Storybuilder, which lets children create illustrated stories using their voices, and a redesigned Parent Dashboard with weekly activity insights.
The Alexa Tablet range starts at $229.99 (approx Rs 22,218) in the US. The 12 Pro starts at $499.99. Meanwhile, the Tablet 11 starts at $329.99. The three models and new Kids Tablets are available to order in the US, Mexico and Canada, with shipments beginning October 14, 2026. Amazon, however, is yet to announce pricing and availability in India.
