Industry Odisha Bureau, Jul 18: In a bid to attract investors to Odisha, the State Government led by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is going to host an Investors’ Roadshow in the national capital this August, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain informed here on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters here, Swain said CM Majhi will lead the high-level ‘Team Odisha’ delegation to pitch the state’s investment potential to top industrial houses and global investors.
“The primary objective of the New Delhi roadshow is to drive higher investment into food processing, leveraging Odisha’s rich agricultural resources and strategic logistics,” he said.
The Chief Minister will engage in direct, one-on-one discussions with prominent industrialists during the mega investors’ meet, he informed.
The Minister further said that the State government is focusing on sectors that can generate large-scale employment and is working to attract industries that have not yet established a strong presence in Odisha.
“Our priority is to bring industries with high employment potential and attract sectors that are currently not present in Odisha. The government has been working towards this objective over the last two years,” he added.
Swain emphasised that Odisha has secured significant capital investments over the last two years, with several industrial projects already commencing operations. Ground breaking ceremony of several industrial projects was also done during the period, he stated.
“We have successfully attracted investments across multiple avenues, including textiles, renewable energy, chemicals, petrochemicals, and various new-age industries. Record numbers of ground-breaking and inauguration ceremonies for new projects have been conducted in the last two years,” Swain told the reporters.
He said the government’s industrial expansion plans are aligned with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi’s vision of building a ‘Samruddha Odisha, Viksit Odisha’.
Apart from attracting investments, he said, the State is also focusing on developing skilled manpower to ensure that local youth benefit from the employment opportunities created through new industrial projects.
“Industrial development and skill development will go hand in hand. The aim is to ensure that the youth of Odisha get maximum benefits from the investments coming to the State,” he added.
