Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 27: In latest news, OpenAI has launched GPT-6.1 Terra. It is a new artificial intelligence model designed to interact with computer applications and automate routine workplace tasks. The model can interpret what appears on a screen, click buttons, enter information and navigate software to complete multi-step workflows. Notably, it was announced on October 26.
Unlike conventional chatbots that primarily generate text, GPT-6.1 Terra is built for other tasks. These include processing invoices, filling out online forms, preparing business proposals and analysing technical drawings. OpenAI said the model combines visual reasoning, computer-use capabilities and natural writing to support everyday professional work.
The company has also focused on speed and affordability. According to OpenAI, GPT-6.1 Terra can complete tasks more than three times faster on average than GPT-6 Astra and GPT-6.1 Sol. Its standard API pricing is 50% lower than that of GPT-5.6 Terra, with input tokens costing $1 per million and output tokens costing $5 per million.
OpenAI reported improvements in computer-use and visual reasoning benchmarks compared with its predecessor, GPT-5.6 Terra. The model is intended to help businesses automate high-volume digital work while reducing the time and expense associated with repetitive processes.
GPT-6.1 Terra is available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu subscribers through ChatGPT Work and Codex. Developers can also access it through OpenAI’s API using the model identifier gpt-6.1-terra.
