Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 18: The Odisha Housing and Urban development (H&UD) Department has signed an MoU with the State Bank of India (SBI) to integrate its payment aggregator service, SBIePay, with the SUJOG platform.
The initiative aims to simplify and secure digital payments for municipal services across Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Odisha. Citizens will be able to pay municipal taxes, fees and utility charges through various modes. These include cards, internet and mobile banking, IMPS, UPI, UPI-RCC, UPI CL, and digital wallets.
The MoU was signed by H&UD Additional Secretary Suvendy Sahoo and SBI DGM (D&TB) Sushant Kumar Dash. H&UD Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee and SBHI Odisha Circle Chief General Manager Rakesh Yadav were also present.
Under the agreement, payments collected through SBIePay will be transferred to designated ULB bank accounts on a T+1 business-day basis.. Unique transaction IDswill support payment tracking, accounting and reconciliation.
A seven calendar day turnaround time has been set for handling payment exceptions, refunds and chargebacks. The department said the partnership will improve convenience and accessibility in urban public services. Meanwhile, SBI will provide operational support for implementation across Odisha.
