Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 19: Odisha is likely to receive heavy rainfall over the next six days. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that a low pressure area is expected to form over the north Andaman Sea on Saturday.
Further, the system may intensify into a depression over the east central Bay of Bengal next week. Post which, it will move west-northwestwards towards the south Odisha-north Andhra coasts over the coming three to four days.
Heavy rainfall is likely in parts of Odisha till Tuesday. Koraput and Malkangiri may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall at multiple locations on Wednesday.
Further on Thursday, rainfall is expected at a few places in Nabarangapur, Koraput, and Malkangiri. The Regional Meteorological Centre has also forecasted widespread, light to moderate rain or thundershowers across the state from Tuesday to Thursday.
The MeT has, however, not indicated if the depression will intensify further or not. The movement and development of the system is being closely monitored.
