Industry Odisha Bureau, Sep 12: India’s 2027 wedding season is driving unusually early hotel bookings. Prime dates at top destinations are already heavily committed. Hotels also expect stronger, more experience-led wedding spending.
Hotels are seeing wedding bookings accelerate well ahead of schedule. Prime dates at several key destinations are already heavily committed. January-March 2027 enquiries are arriving four to six months early. This gives hotels unusually strong visibility into next year’s demand.
Families Plan Weddings Further Ahead
Large celebrations require securing room inventory well in advance. Families also need multiple venues and specific preferred dates. This complexity is pushing wedding planning cycles earlier. Earlier decisions help hotels forecast demand more confidently.
Udaipur Leads Destination Wedding Demand
Udaipur remains a standout destination wedding market. Sayaji Resorts & Spa Udaipur reported 77% wedding revenue growth. That growth came year-on-year, said managing director Raoof Dhanani. Wedding enquiries at the property rose 50%. These figures reflect strong property-level demand, not industry-wide trends.
Hotels Expect Double-Digit Wedding Growth
Radisson Hotel Group expects double-digit wedding-segment growth next year. Its January-March 2027 bookings are also arriving early. Most prime dates at key destinations are already committed. “Advance wedding business is ahead of last year,” said Nikhil Sharma. He leads South Asia operations for Radisson.
Sayaji Expands Through Altara
Sayaji Hotels is also expanding into ultra-luxury hospitality. It has launched a new vertical called Altara. Altara focuses on weddings and MICE demand. MICE covers meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions. Its first property is set to open in Indore. The launch comes in October, marking a major expansion. Sayaji’s 2027 forward bookings have grown roughly 25%. That is separate from Udaipur’s revenue and enquiry figures.
Luxury Hotels Expand Wedding Experiences
Hotels are also broadening what weddings actually include. Fairmont Jaipur is drawing chefs from across the Accor network. The goal is offering authentic global cuisines at weddings. Raffles Udaipur has added personalised wellness programmes for couples. These include Ayurvedic therapies, rituals and hydrothermal experiences. Noor Mahal, in Delhi NCR, is emphasising similar experiences. It is focusing more on wellness and post-wedding offerings.
Destination Weddings Stay Closer to Home
ITC Hotels reports growing interest in celebrations within India. Its properties in Udaipur, Jaipur, Goa and Kolkata are seeing demand. Chennai and Gurugram are also drawing strong interest. Some celebrations once held abroad are shifting to India. This does not mean international weddings have disappeared.
Weddings Reshape Hotel Revenue Strategy
Wedding spending is also becoming more experience-driven. Couples increasingly want curated guest experiences and personalised decor. Pratik Sheth, founder of Spotlight Soirees, described the shift. He said couples increasingly invest in memorable guest experiences. Raffles Udaipur’s general manager described a similar shift. Gurnoor Bindra called it a complete celebration ecosystem. This goes beyond simply providing a venue.
Hotels are increasingly selling full wedding experiences, not just rooms. Earlier bookings give properties clearer visibility into 2027 demand. Destination weddings within India remain a growing opportunity. But executive forecasts are expectations, not guaranteed outcomes.
