Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 23: East Coast Railway (ECoR) has met its October scrap sale target early. The zone crossed the ₹17 crore mark on October 22, nine days before month-end. The milestone was achieved under Special Campaign 6. It reflects ECoR’s steady focus on efficient asset management. It also highlights systematic scrap disposal and better use of railway resources.
Timely scrap disposal plays a key role in railway resource management. It brings in revenue and frees up valuable space across railway premises. It also improves the upkeep of establishments and keeps installations clean. Better use of existing infrastructure is another major gain. The drive also helps create a more orderly working environment.
The target was achieved through close teamwork across several units. The Headquarters Engineering Department played a central role in the effort. All ECoR divisions and the Mancheswar Carriage Repair Workshop also contributed. Their joint commitment helped the zone beat the deadline comfortably.
Sambalpur Division emerged as a major contributor to the achievement. Support from other divisions, departments and workshop staff also proved vital.
ECoR said it remains committed to efficient management of railway assets. The zone will continue the timely disposal of unserviceable materials. It will also push initiatives to boost resource use and network-wide cleanliness.
