Industry Odisha Bureau, Jun 26: Marking a significant milestone for the Indian Air Force (IAF), India’s indigenous Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) system was reportedly accorded the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) yesterday.
Reportedly developed indigenously by the “Bengaluru-based Centre for Airborne Systems (CABS) in collaboration with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), the Netra AEW&C system enhances IAF’s airborne surveillance, situational awareness and battle management capabilities.”
The indigenous Netra AEW&C system also reportedly “encompasses a sophisticated suite of mission equipment, including an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), mission computer, secure communication networks, electronic support measures (ESM) and communication support measures.”
The FOC accorded signifies that, “the indigenously-built Netra AEW&C system is fully combat-ready without operational limitations, and it has already proven its reliability during the military operations of 2019 Balakot strikes and 2025 Operation Sindoor.”
It has also reportedly been claimed that, “India is the fifth country in the world to develop this capability.”
Reports added, “the IAF operates three indigenously-built Netra AEW&C Mk-1 systems in addition to three Israeli Phalcon AWACS.”
