Industry Odisha Bureau, Oct 30: Anvay Dravid and Aaryavir Sehwag, sons of former India batting stars Rahul Dravid and Virendra Sehwag, have been named in India’s 15-member squad for the ACC Men’s Under 19 Asia Cup. Notably, the series is scheduled to take place in Muscat, Oman, from November 5 to 14.
The two youngsters earned their places following impressive performances in the recently concluded Vinoo Mankad Trophy. Both made headlines with centuries in the domestic Under-19 competition, which strengthened their cases for the selection.
Anvay, the 17-year-old son of former India captain and head coach Rahul Dravid, smashed 151 off 100 balls against Gujarat earlier this month. He had also impressed in a youth ODI against Sri Lanka in Hambantota in July, scoring 87 off 67 deliveries.
Aaryabir, son of former India opener Virender Sehwag, struck 173 off 143 balls against Chandigarh while representing Delhi in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. The 19-year-old’s innings demonstrated his ability to build a substantial knock.
Lakshya Raichandani will captain the Indian side, with Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan serving as vice-captain. The squad also includes wicketkeepers Anvay Dravid and Rajat Baghel.
India have been placed in Group A alongside Pakistan, Nepal and the United Arab Emirates. They will open their campaign against Nepal on November 6, face Pakistan on November 8 and meet the UAE on November 10.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semi-finals on November 12. The tournament final is scheduled for November 14. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia form Group B.
