Industry Odisha Bureau, Sept 29: Tata Motors has introduced the Aeris, with petrol and CNG powertrains and with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) options. The new compact sedan, notably, is aimed at private car buyers only. Prices for the same start at Rs 5.29 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 6.29 lakh for the iCNG version, ex-showroom.
Bookings for the sedan are now open. Meanwhile, deliveries are scheduled to begin from October 11. Tata Motors is positioning the Aeris around comfort, space, stability, and efficiency. Along with which will be updated styling, technology, and safety features.
The Aeris also gets a redesigned exterior with slimmer LED headlights, eyebrow-style LED daytime running lights, a gloss black grille and pixel-inspired LED fog lamps. Higher variants get 15-inch dual tone alloy wheels too. Meanwhile, lower trims and CNG versions use 14-inch wheels.
At the rear, the sedan features slimmer LED trail lights connected by a red element and a revised bumper. The Aeris is offered in six colours. These include Nitro Crimson, Pure Grey, Pristine white and Daytona Grey.
On the inside, the car gets a lighter cabin theme, a 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster and a two-spoke steering wheel. Other features include ventilated front seats, wireless charging, leatherette upholstery and a Dash Cam Recorder using the surround-view camera system.
Safety features include six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, TMPS, hill-road assist and Asofix mounts.
Further, the Aeris measures 3,995mm in length and has a 2,450mm wheelbase, a 170mm ground clearance and 419 litres of boot space in the petrol version. The CNG model, notably, uses Tata’s dual cylinder setup to retain luggage space.
Power comes from a 1.2 litre, three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86bhp and 113Nm. The CNG version produces 76bhp and 97Nm. Both powertrains are available with five-speed manual and AMT gearboxes.
