Bhubaneswar, March 23: Ace English golfer Matthew Fitzpatrick on Sunday (March 22) added a fabulous feather to his glorious golf-playing cap by trouncing his American counterpart David Lipsky reportedly by “one stroke” to clinch the coveted US PGA Tour Valspar Championship.
The epoch-making event was reportedly played at “Florida-based Innisbrook’s Copperhead course in Palm Harbor”.
Valspar Champion Fitzpatrick not only won the title, but also reportedly bagged $1.638 million prize money from such an astounding victory.
Pertinent to note that, “The most prominent English golfer to win the US PGA Championship is Jim Barnes, who won the tournament’s inaugural year in 1916 and again in 1919. While other British golfers have won the US Open or The Open, Barnes remains a pioneering English winner of the US PGA Championship in its early match-play era” (Courtesy: LINKS).
Notably, “PGA is the Professional Golfers’ Association (or PGA of America), which represents professional golf instructors and club professionals. It is also frequently used to refer to the PGA Tour (men’s professional tournament circuit).”
