Industry Odisha Bureau, Jul 26: South Korea’s Seoul-headquartered Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has reportedly won a long-term production and packaging contract worth $200 billion from US-based multinational semiconductor company Broadcom.
Notably, “Samsung has reportedly won a $16.5 billion contract to make logic chips for Elon Musk-owned EV maker Tesla last year (2025).”
Quoting the official statement reportedly issued yesterday by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., international media reports said that, “The expanded collaboration with Broadcom (one of the world’s leading custom AI chip designers) reflects Samsung’s focus on supporting customers with end-to-end semiconductor technologies across an increasingly diverse range of AI and high-performance computing applications.”
Highlighting such a significant development, international media reports stated that, “The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) inked between the two globally-renowned firms emphasises on Samsung’s concerted efforts not only to enhance its position in the arena of AI semiconductors, but also to cater to the growing demand for custom AI processors. The collaboration of Samsung with Broadcom will also help combining Broadcom’s expertise in designing application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) or chips for specific tasks with Samsung’s manufacturing capabilities.”
Quoting Samsung’s official statement in this context, international media reports said that, “The deal provides for Broadcom’s next-generation communications chips, designed for high-speed data transfer, to be made with Samsung’s sub-2-nanometre process technology. Samsung and Broadcom will also collaborate on next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) products.”
