Industry Odisha Bureau, Jul 11: Since India aims to expand its defence exports as well as mark its position in the global defence manufacturing market, Asia’s largest airshow named ‘Aero India-2027’ has reportedly been scheduled to be organised in Bengaluru’s Yelahanka Air Force Station from February 8 to 12 next year.
As per media reports, “While the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will serve as the nodal agency for the 16th edition of the biennial event on behalf of the Defence Ministry’s Department of Defence Production, the Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) will extend its support.”
Media reports also highlighted that, “The airshow is being organised to serve as a platform for Indian and foreign firms to forge new partnerships in the aerospace sector, while the Government of India (GoI) has stepped up its efforts to boost its defence production and exports since India’s annual defence production hit a record Rs 1.78 lakh crore in fiscal year 2025–26 (FY 26), up 15.6% from Rs 1.54 lakh crore in the previous fiscal year 2024-2025 (FY25).”
So far GoI’s future goals are concerned, it has reportedly been stated that, “India aims to achieve Rs 3 lakh crore in defence manufacturing by 2029–30, while it aims to earn Rs 50,000 crore in defence exports during the same period.”
Media reports claimed that, “India’s defence exports hit a record Rs 38,424 crore in fiscal year 2025–26 (FY26), up 63% from Rs 23,622 crore in the previous financial year 2024-2025 (FY25).”
Apart from this, it has also been reported that, “India has clinched recent agreements for exporting BrahMos cruise missiles and Astra beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles to Indonesia’s armed forces.”
