India’s electric vehicle (EV) revolution has found an unlikely champion in the east. Recent vehicle registration data has placed Odisha among the top five EV-performing states. Uttar Pradesh leads the country in EV registrations (around 15% of the national total), followed by Maharashtra (10%), Tamil Nadu (9%) and Karnataka (9%), with Odisha emerging as the leading EV adopter in eastern India.
