Industry Odisha Bureau, Jul 25: The Ministry of Railways has sanctioned Rs 950 crore during the current financial years for the Talcher-Bimalgarh (150 KM) new line project passes through north Odisha covering Angul,Deogarh and Sundargarh Districts.
This project was included in the Budget 2003-04 at a cost of Rs 727 crore. However, execution of the project is affected due to resistance in land acquisition and court cases in this regard, informed Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The latest cost of the project is now stands at Rs 3,390 crore and expenditure of Rs 1,901 crore have been incurred on thisproject upto March, 2026, he said. An outlay of Rs 950 crore has been provided for the financial year 2026-27, he added.
Vaishnaw further informed that a total of 863 hectares of land including 274 hectares of forest land and 19 hectares of private land required for execution of the project.
So far, a total of 756 hectares of land including 269 hectares of forest, 342 hectares of private and 146 hectares of government land acquired for the new railway line project, he stated.
The Minister said that Talcher -Khamar (48 KM) has been already commissioned while Khamar – Golabandha (35 KM) is under construction.
Khamar – Golabandha (35 KM)- a total of 110 hectares of land out of 137 hectares requisite land have been acquired. Works have been taken up in available land. 41 out of 61 minor bridges have been completed and works have been taken up on balance minor bridges. Three out of 11 railway over bridges (ROBs) have been completed and works have been taken up on balance ROBs. Besides, 12 out of 16 railway under bridges (RUBs) have been completed and works have been taken up on balance RUBs.
Golabandha – Mahuldiha (35 KM)-69 hectares out of 113 hectares requisite land have been acquired.
Mahuldiha – Bimalgarh (32 Km)-108 hectares out of 134 hectares requisite land have been acquired. Forestry and Wildlife clearances received. Works have been taken up in available land. 39 out of 72 minor Bridges have been completed and works have been taken up on balance minor Bridges. 12 out of 25 RUBs have been completed and works have been taken up on balance RUBs.
