Industry Odisha Bureau, July 23: Adobe has introduced an Acrobat integration for WhatsApp Web and Windows. This will allow users to view, review and annotate PDF documents without leaving the messaging platform.
Earlier, users had to download a PDF received on WhatsApp before opening it. With the new Adobe-WhatsApp integration, users will now be able to view documents directly in the app. They will also be able to scroll, zoom, and read PDFs without switching to another application.
The update also adds basic editing tools. With this, users will be able to highlight text, underline content, strike through sections and draw on pdfs using Acrobat’s markup features. Further, they will also be able to share the annotated document directly within the chat.
Adobe said that the integration with WhatsApp aims to improve collaboration for businesses, students, and everyday users. Small businesses can review contracts and invoices. Meanwhile, consumers will be able to check receipts, forms, and travel documents without leaving WhatsApp.
The company also highlighted the security features that come with this integration. Password protected PDFs will remain secure, with only authorised recipients able to access them. Documents shared on WhatsApp will continue to benefit from the platform’s end-to-end encryption.
Adobe shared that people share more than 400 billion documents annually using Acrobat. It said that the WhatsApp integration will help users collaborate more efficiently by bringing PDF tools directly into the messaging platform.
Adobe added that the integration is part of its broader strategy in order to make Acrobat available across platforms where people work every day, including Chrome, Microsoft 365, Copilot, ChatGPT and Workday.
