Industry Odisha Bureau, Aug 3: After remaining conspicuously absent from Indian market for six decades (60 years) as being claimed, British Lion Brewery Co has reportedly resumed its re-entry by launching its premium beer in Delhi.
As per media reports, “Founded in London in 1836, the famous British brewery company has partnered with with Copperdrop Spirits as its exclusive importer and distributor in India.”
Media reports, quoting Lion Brewery Co’s Managing Director (MD) Will Julius, have stated that, “India is not just a new market for us, it’s part of Lion Brewery Co’s story.”
Reportedly, “Lion Brewery Co has historical links with India, because it was among the early producers and exporters of a beer style India Pale Ale (IPA), originally developed for export to the country during the British era.”
Talking to media, Lion Brewery Co’s Managing Director (MD) Will Julius also reportedly said that, “To bring Lion back after more than half a century, and to do so at a time when the premium beer segment is growing so rapidly in India, is incredibly exciting.”
In his media reactions, British Lion Brewery’s Indian partner Copperdrop Spirits’ Rohan Khare reportedly said that, “We see strong potential for premium international craft brands in India. Lion Brewery Co combines heritage, authenticity, and quality, all of which resonate strongly with today’s Indian consumer.”
Media reports further informed that, “British Lion Brewery Co has launched now in India its Island Lager and Pale Ale, while its further formats are in the offing. Currently, its 330 ml premium beer bottles are on sale in Delhi market, while plans are afoot to expand it into adjoining Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in the next phase.”
