Industry Odisha Bureau, May 26: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has decided to undertake a Citizen-Centric Compliance Audit on Urban Mobility in 101 cities across the country under its Annual Action Plan 2026–27. Bhubaneswar and Cuttack have been selected from Odisha for the proposed audit exercise, officials said today.
In this connection, an Entry Conference on Urban Mobility was held under the chairpersonship of Additional Chief Secretary Usha Padhee here at the 3rd Floor Conference Hall of Kharabela Bhawan today.
Principal Accountant General (Audit-I), Odisha, Subu R, Deputy Accountant General Balakrishna, and members of the audit team attended the meeting.
During the conference, the audit team made a detailed presentation outlining the audit criteria, legal and policy framework, urban transport systems, key service areas, methodology, and timelines for the proposed audit.
The office of the Accountant General (AG) also requested nomination of a nodal officer from the Housing & Urban Development Department and sought cooperation from all concerned departments and agencies for smooth conduct of the audit process.
Addressing the meeting, ACS Padhee assured full cooperation and all necessary assistance for successful completion of the audit.
She advised departmental officers and participating agencies to place their issues, challenges, and operational concerns before the audit team to facilitate constructive discussions, practical suggestions, and a better understanding of the urban mobility ecosystem.
The meeting also deliberated upon the proposed timelines and modalities for conduct of the audit.
Among others, Director, Municipal Administration, Arindam Dakua; Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Chanchal Rana; senior officers from Bhubaneswar Development Authority, CRUT, Cuttack Municipal Corporation, Cuttack Development Authority, Smart City Limited, Commerce & Transport Department, State Transport Authority, Odisha State Pollution Control Board, Home Department, and other stakeholder agencies attended the meeting.
