Industry Odisha Bureau, April 13: Gracing the auspicious occasion of “Chehlum” in memory of assassinated Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in New Delhi yesterday (April 12), Iran’s age-old pal India paid solemn tribute.
The memorial service was organised at New Delhi-based Iranian Cultural Centre attended by hundreds of mourners along with the official representatives of the Government of India.
While Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita chiefly represented the Government of India, a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, “Margherita offered solemn respects on behalf of the Government of India. India–Iran relations are anchored in deep rooted civilizational, cultural and people-to-people ties”.
In his statement on the occasion, Abdul Majid Hakeem (Iran Supreme Leader’s Representative in India) said that the martyrdom of their beloved spiritual leader, who devoted his life to humanity and justice, has passed the Islamic pious 40 days.
The Iranian Representative in India also stated that their country expresses gratitude to India and its people. Extolling the people of India on behalf of Iran, Hakeem said, “The people of India have shown a remarkable example of loyalty, wisdom and commitment to justice through the participation in the memorial event and messages of sympathy.”
“Truth knows no boundaries and awakened hearts always stand alongside justice”, quipped Iranian Representative in India Abdul Majid Hakeem on the auspicious occasion of late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s “Chehlum”.
Notably, “Chehlum, or Arbaeen in Arabic, translates to the fortieth day in English. It is an Islamic religious observance held 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, marking the end of the mourning period for the battle of Karbala”.
Also pertinent to note here that, Islamic Republic of Iran’s most adorable Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was assassinated on February 28 morning hours by the joint air strikes of Iran’s bête noires USA and Israel which was officially confirmed by the Iranian government on March 1.
