Bhubaneswar, March 24: In the wake of US President Donald Trump having reportedly “held off planned strikes against Iran for five days” yesterday (March 23), all are agog to see if such a move would ease tensions in the Middle East and diplomatic dialogues would resume in a bid to pave path for peace.
As per media reports, Trump made public the “5-day pause” decision during the Memphis Safe Task Force roundtable in Tennessee.
He also reportedly claimed that preliminary parleys between his US regime and Iran’s leaderships have been held during the previous two days.
Trump reportedly stated, “I’ve directed the Department of War to temporarily postpone planned strikes against major energy and electricity targets in Iran,”
He further claimed that the US strikes have taken a toll on Iran’s military capacity as Iran’s Navy, Air Force, anti-aircraft have been “knocked out”.
He also added that Iran’s ballistic missiles and drone infrastructures have been “significantly degraded”.
Trump also reiterated that the main aim and objective of US is to ensure that Iran is deprived of possessing any nuclear weapons.
On the contrary, the global energy crisis still stays put despite Trump’s “5-day pause”, claim market experts.
Even though the global market signalled optimism after such a remarkable development as stocks reportedly surged and oil prices comparatively dropped, the unpredictable escalations in near future cannot be ruled out, and may once again turn everything topsy-turvy, view analysts.
Despite Trump’s “5-day pause” decision and the claimed diplomatic parleys, there are no evident reports that Washington and Tehran have begun the formal peace deals.
Thus, it is now being waited with bated breath and anxiously watched if Trump’s “5-day pause” decision would turn out to be unilateral, and bête noire Tehran, whose former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with other top leaders already assassinated beside the massacre of innocent school children, would fall into the allegedly tactical trap of untrustworthy Trump-Netanyahu’s whims and fancies.
It’s because, war broke out last year (2025) and scores of Iranian scientists and commanders were killed amid the diplomatic dialogues. This time, the same talks were on when all of a sudden the US-Israel forces pounded on Tehran on February 28 resulting in the shocking assassination of senior Khamenei and other bigwigs.
